Hello,

My name is Woody Woodring and I am webmaster of Retirement On A Budget and several associated websites.

I decided to add this “Places To Retire” website to my family of seniors/retirement websites in order to provide a platform for other voices, not generally heard, to present their views on places they believe would be great places for seniors to spend their retirement years.

There are hundreds of wonderful cities and villages in the USA and other countries where retirement living is as good as, if not better than, those places more highly publicized.  

For instance, after living in four countries in Europe and at least ten states in the United States, my wife and I decided to spend our retirement years in Greenville, South Carolina. Why? Because we know from experience what a wonderful place South Carolina’s upstate is for living and working. Many families move to the Greenville area after discovering, quite by accident, what a wonderful area it is. Yet South Carolina’s upstate is under the radar of the self proclaimed experts who determine where the best places are for retirement.
